Track Wins Penn Relays Wheel, Again!

For the second straight year, Gonzaga's 4x400 Relay won its heat at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania -- earning the racers a coveted Penn Relays 'Wheel' trophy. Before last year's win, Gonzaga had not won a Penn Relays Wheel since 2009, and before that since 1986. The team of Calvin Timm '25, John Dearie '24, Ozias Tulloch '27, and Jude McGroarty '24 narrowly won the race on Saturday, April 26 with a time of 3:25.76.

After the first two legs, the Eagles led by a second; but East Orange High School (NJ) had their fastest competitor overtake us to give them the lead by three seconds heading into the final lap around the track. In the end, it was, as the livestream announcer said, "Gonzaga College for the win! It ain't over till it's over!" Watch the full race below:

Gonzaga also competed in the 4x100 at Penn Relays with the team of Darius Wise '24, Timm, Myles McLaughlin '24, and McGroarty. And locally on April 25-26, the Eagles raced in the Emerging Elite and Gator Invitational at Reservoir High School - click here to see all of the results.

Next up, the team will compete at the Dogwood Invitational at the University of Virginia and the Draper Invitational at St. Stephen's St. Agnes this weekend.

Go Eagles!
