  • Torey Ortmayer '11, Head Coach

    Coach Ortmayer is from Arlington, Virginia and graduated from Gonzaga in 2011. While at Gonzaga he swam and played water polo, and was named captain of both teams his senior year. After high school, he went to Occidental College and played on the men's varsity water polo team. After graduating in 2016, he worked in LA for a year before returning back to the DC area.
     
    Coach Ortmayer has been coaching swimming and water polo for over 12 years, beginning with developmental swimmers while in high school, working his way up to becoming an assistant coach for the Overlee swim team in Arlington. While in California, he spent 5 years at Mayfield Senior School where he was the head water polo and swim coach. Upon returning to DC, he spent a season as an assistant coach for the Gonzaga water polo team before becoming the head coach in 2018. Coach has also been the head coach of the Yorktown High School team since 2017 and the assistant senior national team coach at York swim club in Northern Virginia since 2018. 
  • Dominick Pugliese '08, Assistant Coach

    Coach Pugliese was a four-year member of the water polo team during his years on Eye Street. He then went on to play at Princeton University, where he was a member of the team that won the Eastern Championship in 2010 and 2012, and twice placed 3rd in the NCAA Final Four.  He coached Gonzaga's JV B team as a member of the Alumni Service Corps in 2012-2013, and returned to Eye Street in 2016 as a history teacher and water polo coach.
  • Ben Hoffschneider '16, Assistant Coach

    Ben Hoffschneider is a DC native who graduated from Gonzaga in 2016. He played water polo all four years at Gonzaga, as well as training with Coach Mladen Stanicic at the Naval Academy during the off-season and spending a summer in Montenegro with the Gonzaga team. He is excited to be back coaching the sport he loves while entering his Junior year studying Political Science at UDC.
