  • Joe Viola ’83 - Head Coach

    A member of Gonzaga College High School’s faculty/staff since the fall of 1991, Joe is currently a History teacher, with over twenty-years of coaching experience. In 2002 Joe helped start Gonzaga's Water Polo team along with some dedicated student-athletes. Joe played water polo at the University of Richmond in the mid 80’s and can best be contacted at: jviola@gonzaga.org.
  • Dominick Pugliese '08, Assistant Coach

    Coach Pugliese was a four-year member of the water polo team during his years on Eye Street. He then went on to play at Princeton University, where he was a member of the team that won the Eastern Championship in 2010 and 2012, and twice placed 3rd in the NCAA Final Four.  He coached Gonzaga's JV B team as a member of the Alumni Service Corps in 2012-2013, and returned to Eye Street in 2016 as a history teacher and water polo coach.
  • Ben Hoffschneider '16, Assistant Coach

    Ben Hoffschneider is a DC native who graduated from Gonzaga in 2016. He played water polo all four years at Gonzaga, as well as training with Coach Mladen Stanicic at the Naval Academy during the off-season and spending a summer in Montenegro with the Gonzaga team. He is excited to be back coaching the sport he loves while entering his Junior year studying Political Science at UDC.
     
  • TJ Gletner '17

    TJ played water polo at Gonzaga for 4 years. He was a member of the Gonzaga's varsity water polo team his junior and senior years, helping to win the Prep Eastern’s Championship in 2016. TJ also played four years of ice hockey on Gonzaga's Varsity II team, serving as Alternate Captain his junior year, and as Captain his senior year. Additionally, while at Gonzaga, TJ served as a Retreat Team Leader and as French Club President. TJ graduated from Georgetown University in 2021, where he played Club Rugby, serving as Captain, and is a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. TJ will be a member of Gonzaga’s Alumni Service Corps for the 2021-22 school year.
     
  • Jack Finch

    Coach Finch grew up in Menlo Park, California, where he played water polo for Menlo High School.  He then went on to the United States Naval Academy, where he played water polo for four years and has spent the past few years as an assistant coach.  Coach Finch lives and woks in Alexandria, Virginia.
