Soccer Begins WCAC Play

Soccer has entered the heat of the WCAC portion of their 2023 schedule. This week, Gonzaga had two league matches. On Tuesday, October 3, the Eagles faced Bishop Ireton at Catholic University and prevailed 7-1. And on Thursday, October 5, the team traveled to face St. John's on Military Road.

Down 1-0 at half against the Cadets, Gonzaga earned a penalty kick, and Captain Daniel Bollman '24 netted the opportunity in the lower right corner to tie the game 1-1 going into halftime. During second half stoppage time, the Eagles found themselves trailing 2-1. Following the clean up of a corner kick, Sam Riley '23 found Dylan Franklin '23 who tapped it around the goalie to secure a 2-2 tie as time expired.

Soccer is now 5-4-4 on the year and 3-1-1 in WCAC play. The team will travel to Paul VI on Tuesday, October 10 for their next game. You can find the team's entire schedule here.
