Rugby - National Runner Up
On Thursday, May 19th, Rugby traveled to Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart, Indiana to compete in Rugby Nationals. Gonzaga was seeded as the overall 2 seed in the tournament.
Rugby defeated Greenwich 57-5 in the quarterfinals. The following day, May 20th, the Eagles defeated Herriman 32-14 to advance to the Rugby Nationals Final for the 13 straight time.
On Saturday, May 21st, Gonzaga faced St. Ignatius (OH). Gonzaga trailed 17-0 at halftime. Coach Baggetta's team would fight back and close the gap, but unfortunately would not have enough to overcome the huge deficit and fell 23-14.
To recap the season, Rugby won the MAVRC Championship, Gonzaga Rugby Classic, and finished 2nd overall in Nationals.
