News of Alumni: Gerry Milligan '78 and Dr. John Gabriel Smith '54

In a chance encounter on Eye Street this week, Gonzaga's first African American graduate, Dr. John Gabriel Smith '54, had the opportunity to meet Gonzaga's first African American quarterback, Gerry Milligan '78.

"It was a joy to see these two Eye Street legends meet for the first time," says Byron Harper '84, Gonzaga's Director of Alumni Relations. "Gonzaga Eagles past and present owe these two pioneers a debt of gratitude."
