Soccer Advances to WCAC Championship Following Wins over St. John’s and The Heights

The Soccer Eagles triumphed 2-1 over St. John's in WCAC Quarterfinal action on Tuesday, October 29. The Eagles got on the board first when Senior Wyatt Moll launched a throw in that found a darting Senior Ryan Elie who headed it in. The Johnnies would respond in the second half with a goal of their own, but a minute later, Ryan Elie crossed the ball to Junior Jack Ries who headed it in for the game-winner. The defense dug in and resisted any remaining offensive threats.

Then, in the WCAC Semifinal on Thursday, October 31, the Eagles played their best half of the year. Will Thompson '21 capitalized on a turnover to score just 2 minutes into the game. About 10 minutes later, Ryan Elie '20 scored on a great pass by Jack Ries '21 on an Eagle counter attack to make the score 2-0.

The Cavaliers would cut lead the in half with 10 minutes left in the half, but Thompson would strike again after a nice feed from Gianluca Sacco '21 to make it 3-1 at the half.
