News of Alumni: Pindar Van Arman '92

Robotocist and artist Pindar Van Arman ’92 won first place in RobotArt, an annual competition featuring artwork created by robots. This year’s competition included the work of 19 different teams of developers from around the world who submitted more than 100 paintings created by machines. Each submission is accompanied by a video showing the robot painting its art.

The prizes were determined by a panel of professional art critics as well online voting by the general public. Pindar’s robot, called CloudPainter, won the first place prize of $40,000.

Pindar’s work, along with the work of several other robot artists, will be on display during the Seattle Art Fair from August 2-5. For more information about RobotArt, click here.
