Lacrosse Never Gives Up to Beat Landon, 9-8 in OT

On April 24 in Bethesda, the varsity lacrosse Eagles trailed Landon 8-4 at the begining of the fourth quarter before completing a furious comeback to force overtime. Kyle Borda '18 scored the game winner just over 90 seconds into OT, sending the Gonzaga sideline into a raucous celebration.  The game was broadcast live on LSN (Lax Sports Network), here is the final play:

Kurt Bruun '19 got the rally started with his goal at the 10:14 mark in the fourth quarter.  Doane Keichel got his third goal of the game at the 8:18 mark, Borda scored at 4:48, and PJ Zinsner '19 tied the game with 2:51 left on the clock.  Drake Schaffner '18, Ben Finlay '19, and the entire defensive unit combined to make a huge stop to force the extra period.

“Coach O’Neill kept us calm the whole time,” Borda said. “I mean, we were down by four, and the sideline was pretty dead but he just kept saying, ‘Be positive. Be positive.’ ” Click here to read an article from the Washington Post.
