Soccer Wins WCAC Championship, Advances to DCSAA Semifinal
Soccer defeated The Heights 1-0 on Sunday, November 2 at Carlini Field at Catholic University in front of a capacity crowd to capture the WCAC Championship for the second year in a row! This was Coach Waller's 11th WCAC title.
The game was tied 0-0 at halftime. After the Eagles secured a free kick just outside of the 18 yard box 5 minutes into the second half, captain Julian Antezana '26 headed in the perfect cross from Ari Lyubinsky '26. Captains Erik Carey '26 and Charlie Waller '27 (WCAC Co-Player of the Year) each made key plays throughout the remaining time to help protect the lead. Next up, Gonzaga hosted St. Albans in the DCSAA quarterfinal game on Tuesday, November 4. The Eagles defeated the Bulldogs 7-1 to advance to today's semifinal against St. John's. The winner will face the winner of DC International and Washington International in the championship back at Carlini Field at CUA on Sunday, November 9 at 5pm.
