Gonzaga Cross Country is represented by three teams—Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman—with a total of nearly 75 runners. Coach John Ausema began coaching Varsity in 2007, and under his direction, the team has won eight WCAC championships in recent years, including 2023, when they also took home the DCSAA title for the fifth time in his tenure to earn him his sixth DCSAA Coach of the Year award.

In 2024, the Eagles won the prestigious Jesuit Championship at Van Cortlandt Park for the fifth time since 2009. And in 2025, the Eagles finished second in both the WCAC and DCSAA championships, won another Jesuit Championship, and took home All-Region honors at the Nike Cross Country Regionals in Cary, NC. Anthony Sarro '26 won the individual WCAC and DC championship titles. He was named the runner of the year for the DC region by Under Armour and Windsor Running and DC Player of the Year by Gatorade.
