Water Polo Starts Season 5-0
Varsity Water Polo is off to a red hot start as the Eagles have won all five of their matches. After a commanding victory over Calvert Hall (16-8) on August 28, the team barnstormed its traditional Pennsylvania weekend by winning all three games from September 5-7. The wins came over strong teams from Haverford (14-10), Episcopal Academy (12-10), and Penn Charter (11-5). Brothers Thomas ’26 and Jack ’29 Singleton, who scored a combined 27 goals over the course of the weekend, are helping to fire up an already talented and hungry squad.
Head coach Nick Pugliese ’08 shared this thought regarding the biggest win so far, “Haverford is always one of the toughest teams we play – to beat them for the first time in almost 9 years is a testament to how hard we’re working and our excellent senior leadership.”
After notching another win on September 11 against Landon (22-14), the team is now 5-0 on the year. Next up, the Eagles will face Spalding on Wednesday, September 17 at Takoma Aquatic Center before a full weekend at the Naval Academy’s Battle of the Beltway on September 20-21. Click
