Andy Carluccio '16 and Jonathan Kokotajlo '16 Win Emmy for Groundbreaking Technology

Two Class of 2016 alumni, Andy Carluccio and Jonathan Kokotajlo, were honored this week by the Television Academy with an Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy Award. The pair were recognized as part of the team at Zoom Communications, Inc., for its groundbreaking Zoom for Broadcast technology.

“These innovations have… empowered enterprise teams, educators, and independent creators to produce live programming with professional polish and reach global audiences,” a company press release said. Carluccio serves as Head of Client Innovation and Kokotajlo as Technical Program Manager at Zoom.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Andy and Jonathan started a company called Liminal, which was later acquired by Zoom, to help organizations move events and performances online. They worked closely with Gonzaga at the time, helping us stream Masses and other community events as well as configuring technology on campus to enable sophisticated streaming.

“It all started on Eye Street,” says Carluccio. “It’s an exciting day for me and Jonathan, as well as Richard Hrdy ’17 and Matt Hoffman ’17, who work on our team and contributed to the winning products. It’s a privilege to get to work with my friends from Gonzaga where we shared computer science classes, GDA experiences, WZAG broadcasts, and more. We’re so blessed.”

Congratulations to Andy, Jonathan, and their entire team!
