V2 Hockey wins MAPHL A Championship
Congratulations to Gonzaga V2 Hockey for winning the MAPHL A Championship!
The Eagles defeated Archbishop Spalding 3-2 in overtime at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel on Friday, March 4th. The game-winning goal was scored by Danny Rogers ‘24 assisted by Luke Sullivan ‘23. Other goals were scored by Landon Hugo ‘25 assisted by Brighton Rabin ‘25 and Colin Klym ‘24, unassisted. Gonzaga was relentless in their attack and took close to fifty shots on net. Led by Head Coach Bryan King, The Eagles finished 13-1 and on the season.
“This was a rematch from a 1-5 loss we took early in the season at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. We knew that we would have to battle against this Spalding team so we came prepared better than ever before,” said King.
“Most notable was the grit and determination our team had when it came down to who would be the person to score the winning goal. I mentioned to the boys that this third period would separate good from great and what it meant to be great. Truly, the rest was history. We battled back trailing 0-1 in the third and went goal for goal until about 3:58 in overtime, when we scored the winning goal!”
