Cross Country Wins Second Straight Jesuit Championship
Cross Country finished with 21 points to capture its sixth Jesuit Championship since 2009 and second in a row. The 82nd annual version of the race on the 2.5 mile historic course at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York, took place on Saturday, November 15. Captain Anthony Sarro ‘26 won the race for the second straight year in 13:04, to become the first Gonzaga runner to win the individual title in back-to-back years. Fellow captain Kai Rock ‘26 finished second (13:08). Other scorers included Ian Catanzano ‘26 (6th), Teddy Fritz '26 (7th), Jack Coogan '28 (8th), and Jennings Davis '27 (9th). "I'm really proud of our collective effort as this was our fastest five man average since 2009 at 13:25," said head coach John Ausema. Click here for full results from the meet.
In addition to the varsity win, JV won their race with 30 points, led by Ben Bakshi '28 (3rd) and Declan Heil '27 (4th). And the Freshmen won with 28 points, led by Jack Stickles '29 (2nd) and Nolan Culligan '29 (4th).
