March Madness in full swing on Eye Street!

March Madness officially arrived on Eye Street this month, marked by a series of campus events celebrating both the history of the game and the success of Gonzaga alumni on the national stage.

The start of the month saw the debut of "When March Went Mad," an exhibit curated by the Library located outside the Innovation Commons. The display offers a look at basketball history through photos and memorabilia, highlighting everything from local legends to the evolution and growth of the WNBA.

Building on that momentum, the Onyx Club hosted a 3-on-3 tournament in the Carmody Center this week. The event brought together students and faculty coaches for friendly competition, with fans cheering on their friends and classmates.

As the NCAA men’s tournament officially began on Thursday, March 19, students gathered during lunch to watch the first round of games. While the daytime games drew lots of talk at school, much of the community’s attention was fixed on a high-profile matchup taking place Thursday night. Two members of the Gonzaga Class of 2025—Derek Dixon of North Carolina and Nyk Lewis of Virginia Commonwealth—faced off in the opening round. The former Eagles guarded each other for much of the night in what turned out to be a thrilling come-from-behind overtime win for Lewis's Rams. In addition, the SGA is hosting its annual bracket challenge. This year’s pool includes nearly 400 entrants from the student body and faculty. Participants are competing for Gonzaga swag and campus bragging rights.
