Gonzaga fields three rugby teams – Varsity Purple, Varsity Black (developmental varsity team), and a Freshman/Sophomore team. Gonzaga Rugby’s season begins in February and runs through May. Varsity Purple has been one of the most successful rugby teams in the country for well over a decade, with the team winning six national championships since 2014.

The 2026-27 Eagles look forward to once again playing an extremely competitive schedule, with nationally ranked Top 25 teams throughout the season. Additionally, the program hosts the Gonzaga Rugby Classic in April where the Eagles face the best teams on the East Coast in preparation for Nationals in May.
