Seville, Spain Trip

Sevilla --  a crossroads of Roman, Andalusian, Moorish, and Jewish cultures -- will welcome Gonzaga students during Spring Break 2023 with its renowned beauty, history, culture, and cuisine, as well as its world-famous event,  Semana Santa (Holy Week).

Students will reside with a classmate in the home of a Spanish host family, immersing themselves in the language and contemporary Spanish culture.  They will receive Spanish language instruction from Centro MundoLengua (ML) trained, native teachers who have taught many Gonzaga students dating from 2010.  Activities and excursions will include:  La Giralda tower and the Seville Cathedral; El Alcázar, the oldest continuously inhabited European royal palace featured in Game of Thrones (GOT); Itálica, an amazing Roman city also featured in GOT;  the processions of Semana Santa; El Club de Fútbol de Sevilla Stadium and Museum; The Nao Victoria (Spanish galleon replica) and the Pavillion of Navigation; kayaking on the Guadalquivir river; a paella cooking demonstration and preparation.

Please note that all itineraries and fees are subject to change.  Trip dates:  departing Mar. 29, 2023, and returning Apr. 7, 2023.

Trip Insurance

Gonzaga recommends that participants consider securing travel insurance for this trip.  In the event of a cancellation or disruption to the trip, Gonzaga will make every effort to recover any and all payments made, but cannot guarantee the extent to which progress payments can be recovered in such circumstances.  Trip insurance backstops those efforts.  Note that comprehensive trip insurance is difficult to secure in the current environment.  This link will take you to a page to secure voluntary trip cancellation/interruption coverage through the Academic Explorer Program, a plan sourced by Gonzaga's primary insurance broker.  This coverage is designed to protect a portion of your otherwise non-refundable trip expenses should future travel need to be cancelled. Again, coverage is voluntary, and participants may also secure coverage independently if they choose to do so.

Trip participants should thoroughly review the coverage information, limits and exclusions in the links below for more information, and, if they choose, purchase coverage.  While rates will vary depending on market conditions, the coverage is generally around $175 per participant.
