Track and Field's Sarro Wins WCAC MVP, Team Finishes Second at DCSAAs

Track & Field finished its season with the WCAC Championship last Friday and Saturday at Good Counsel High School and the DCSAA Championship this past Wednesday and Thursday at Dunbar High School.

Congratulations to Anthony Sarro '26 who won the WCAC Boy's Track Performer of the Meet. He competed in four events and won gold in the 3200 and the 1600. His 1600 meter run broke both the previous outdoor school record (Billy Ledder '10, 4:08.45) and the WCAC Meet record with a time of 4:07.28. At DCSAAs, the Eagles won gold in the first and final events of the meet: the 4x800 (Jack Coogan '28, Max Gaston '28, Kian Ash '28, Teddy Fritz '26) and the 4x400 (Ash, Ozias Tulloch '27, Fritz, Ryan Brown '27). 

The Eagles also had seven silver medal performances between the two championships: WCAC 4x800 (same as above), Christopher Martin ’26 (DCSAA Long Jump), Sarro (DCSAA 3200 and 1600), Tulloch (DCSAA 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles), and Allen Mbuyamba ’26 (DCSAA High Jump). 

Third place finishes were captured by Tulloch (WCAC Long Jump) and Aamir Uthman ’26 (WCAC High Jump).

Gonzaga scored 83 points at WCACs to finish in 5th place overall. At DCSAAs, the team scored 103 points to finish in second place behind St. Albans (119) and in front of St. John's (82).
