News of Alumni: Owen Sheehy '18
Congratulations to Owen Sheehy '18 who was named MVP in USA Rugby 7's National Championship this week. Sheehy, who plays for the Northern Virginia (NOVA) Rugby Club, scored the winning try in the championship game against the Chicago Lions. Owen's team was down by 14 at the half, and his winning score came with no time left on the clock.
Owen led Gonzaga Rugby to two National Championship wins -- one in 2016 and one in 2018 when the Eagles won on the final play.

This was the NOVA's second ever National Championship, with the only other win coming in 1996. In his interview, Sheehy gave credit to the opposing team, the host venue, and said, "From day one of summer, we had a mission - I feel like I'm living a dream right now, it feels amazing!"
