Cross Country's Sarro '26 Wins WCAC Championship, Team Places Second

Gonzaga Cross Country finished in second place in the WCAC championship behind St. John's by 8 points. The team will face the Cadets again in this weekend's DCSAA Championship right back at Kenilworth Park.  
 
Anthony Sarro '26 won the individual crown, our first since Lucas Rohde '24 won the race in 2022. His time of 15:39 was one of the fastest ever achieved on the Kenilworth course. All-conference honors were also earned by Kai Rock '26 (6th place), Ian Catanzano '26 (9th) and Jennings Davis '27 (11th). Teddy Fritz '26 (13th) just missed earning All-Conference, as the top 12 are recognized. 
 
In the varsity B race, Gonzaga also finished second overall with 40 points. Medalists were Jack Coogan '28 (2nd), Wesley Barenzten '26 (5th), and Ben Bakshi '28 (6th). Other scorers were Declan Heil '27 (13th) and Stewart Buckley '27 (14th).  
 
In the freshman race, we achieved a convincing win with a low score of 17 points, with Gonzaga runners finishing 1-2-3-5-6. Winning the race was Nolan Culligan, followed by Tate Perillo, Jack Stickles, Joey Lahr, and Ryan Mead. Click here for the results.
