Athletic Department Announces New Wrestling Coach

The Gonzaga Athletic Department recently announced that Coach Reggie Snowden will serve as its new Head Varsity Wrestling coach.

Originally from the area, Coach Snowden graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was the 2004 DC State Champion. He holds the record for career victories at Wilson, with a total of 113.

Coach Snowden brings an impressive resume to Gonzaga, with experience as the assistant and head coach of Florida A&M as well as an assistant coach at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  In his six combined seasons between FAMU and MIT, Coach Snowden coached five All-Americans and won a National Championship and National Runner-Up.

The past five seasons Coach Snowden has served as the assistant coach at Gonzaga working under Coach Milton Yates. In 2002, in Coach Yates' first competition as a coach, Gonzaga went up against Coach Snowden as a competitor.

Gonzaga is excited to welcome Coach Reggie Snowden to Eye Street! "Reggie's experience as a wrestler and a coach will be a great addition to the program," says Athletic Director Joe Reyda  '85. "We are looking forward to the new era of the wrestling program under Coach Snowden's leadership."

Hail Gonzaga.
