President's Office Moves to Dooley Hall

This week, the Gonzaga President's Office moved from Forte Hall to Dooley Hall, with Father Lingan and his new assistant, Mrs. Kathy Nealon, packing up their boxes and moving into the space that was most recently the receptionist's office and mail room.

Gonzaga alumni who graduated in the early 1980s and before will likely remember that the President's Office used to be in the Jesuit Residence, in the space that is now the Headmaster's Office. Father Lingan's new office in Dooley used to be the Headmaster's Office. When Forte Hall opened in 1985, Father Dooley moved his office to the first floor of Forte, where it remained for Father Novotny, Father Lingan's interim presidency, and Father Planning.

When Father Lingan arrived at Gonzaga this summer, he decided he'd like to move the office back to a more central location on campus--to be more in the middle of things, more present in the day-to-day life of the school, and accessible to the students and the faculty. "It was a custom when building Jesuit schools that the school would be built around the chapel," Father Lingan says. "In most of our older Jesuit institutions you'll see that in the original footprint of the campus, and that was also true here at Gonzaga."
