Marcus Washington '98 to Deliver Kohlmann Address to Class of 2020
Gonzaga is excited to announce that Marcus Washington ‘98, Head of School at the Washington Jesuit Academy, will deliver the Kohlmann Address for the Class of 2020’s Commencement, which will be held on Saturday, June 5.
A graduate of William and Mary, former Gonzaga teacher, and current member of our Board of Trustees, Mr. Washington was named WJA's Head of School last year after serving as the school's Headmaster for nine years. "It's an honor to have Marcus Washington join us for this special occasion," said Gonzaga Headmaster Mr. Every. "I have had the distinct pleasure to call Marcus both colleague and friend. He is a true Igantian educator in every sense of the word. Washington Jesuit Academy is blessed to have him at the helm and we are so grateful for his contributions on our Board."
Due to the pandemic, the Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2020 were postponed last spring. Last week, Gonzaga was happy to announce that we will be able to celebrate the class in-person with a ceremony in St. Al's on June 5, the day before the Class of 2021's Commencement. "Thankfully, we are now in a place where we can hold a well-deserved celebration of the Class of 2020 in the Great Church of St. Aloysius," Father Planning wrote to the class.
The ceremony will be livestreamed into the Sheehy Theater and Carmody Center so that Gonzaga's faculty and staff and the graduates' parents can watch.
We look forward to welcoming back to Eye Street both the Class of 2020 and Mr. Washington on June 5!
