Professor Joseph Thai Speaks In US Government Class
US Government is a semester-long senior elective that focuses on the Bill of Rights. On March 23, Mr. Ed Donnellan was very excited to have Professor Joseph Thai, a law professor at the University of Oklahoma, be a guest speaker. Professor Thai was a law clerk for Supreme Court Justices John Paul Stevens and Byron White, as well as a law clerk for Judge David Ebel of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has often been named outstanding professor of the year by students at the OU's law school, and once by students across the entire campus in Norman, Oklahoma.
Professor Thai focused on two areas of law with the class: the Supreme Court decision of Terry v Ohio (1968) and qualified immunity. The students, including OU commit Caleb Williams '21 who introduced Professor Thai on the call, prepared meaningful questions that led to rich dialogue throughout the presentation. "Engaging with a legal scholar of Professor Thai's stature was a wonderful opportunity for the students. I am extremely proud of how prepared they were and thankful for Professor Thai's generous spirit and willingness to provide such meaningful insight on very important issues for our young men," says Mr. Donnellan.
