Staff News: Dr. Peter Baggetta, PhD Successfully Defends Doctoral Dissertation

Dr. Peter Baggetta, PhD, Director of Gonzaga’s Center for Academic Excellence, AP Psychology Teacher, and Varsity Rugby Head Coach, successfully defended his Doctoral Dissertation on December 10, 2019.

Peter earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a specialization in Educational Psychology as well as a Certificate in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NACS) from the University of Maryland, College Park, College of Education.

His dissertation examined crystallized knowledge (reading, writing, and basic mathematics skills) and fluid relational reasoning ability (the ability to recognize meaningful patterns between and among pieces of information that initially appear to be unrelated) to see which of the two had a greater influence on the academic performance of high school students.

Congratulations, Peter!
