Baseball, Golf, and Tennis Set for Playoffs

The beginning of May is a busy time on Eye Street for many Gonzaga sports programs. The varsity Baseball, Golf, and Tennis Eagles are all tooking to bring the WCAC championship trophy to Eye Street this year.  This post will share the details of each team's schedule over the next few days.

Baseball finished with a 9-7 record and earned the #4 seed in the WCAC playoffs.  Due to the weather forecast, the team will play their home first round game on Friday, May 4 at 6pm at Nats Academy (3675 Ely Pl SE, Washington, DC 20019). Free admission.  The Eagles split the season series with the Knights, with Gonzaga winning the final regular season game at Ryken 6-2 on May 5.  Senior Jacob Hardney will get the start on the mound.  Should the team win, they will face  either St. John's or Bishop McNamara in the second round.  The WCAC baseball playoffs is a single elimination format for rounds one and two, but the championship is determined in a three game series. Varsity Golf beat Good Counsel 8-1 on May 1, and got two wins on May 2, defeating O'Connell 5-4 and Seton 8-1.  The team will look to capture another WCAC title on Monday, May 7.  The Eagles will tee off at 12:30pm at Northwest Golf Course (15711 Layhill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20906). 

Varsity Tennis beat St. Mary's Ryken 9-0 on April 30 and St. Alban's 5-4 on May to finish regular season play.  The team will play in three days of competition in hopes of earning another WCAC title.  All three days will take place at Olney Manor Park (16601 Georgia Ave, Olney, MD 20832) with a 10am scheduled starting time.  The quarterfinals are on Saturday, May 5; the semifinals are on Sunday, May 6; and the championship is on Monday, May 7.  Weather may effect the start times each day.  Here are the complete seedings for the Eagles:
