    Eagle for a Day Visit Calendar Opens for Registration

    Attention all 8th-graders and their parents: Beginning today, September 3, you can now create an account with Gonzaga's Admissions System. Through this account, you'll be able to schedule an Eagle for a Day visit, start your application, and request a viewbook.
  • Fall Varsity Crew Tryouts

    Anacostia Community Boathouse
    Fall Varsity Crew tryouts will begin Tuesday, September 3, at 3:15 pm at the Anacostia Community Boathouse.  A bus will be running as usual after school.

    Please bring rowing gear, running shoes and water bottle.  All athletes in the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 who are interested are welcome.  There will be a short meeting before practice, but anticipate everyone rowing from the very first day.

    Fencing Club Bake Sale

    Gonzaga clubs and teams hold bake sales in order to raise money for their groups. Bake sale are usually up and running by 7:30 am and continue until the end of 6th period lunch.  If you are contributing to a bake sale you do not need to send in homemade items, you can purchase your baked goods at any store.

    Hockey Information Meeting for Students

    Cantwell Hall - Cleary Lecture Hall - Room 222 - -
    There will be a Hockey tryout meeting on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th at 7:15 AM in Cleary Lecture Hall. All players/students interested in trying out for hockey should attend this meeting. Coach Gerdano will be going over information regarding the upcoming season, Captain Skates, and after school workouts.  The first Captain Skate will be held Friday, September 6th from 4:15-5:35 PM at Ft. Dupont Ice Arena.  Drills and scrimmages will be led by the V1 Captains. Bus transportation will be provided to and from the rink.  Players or students should contact Coach Gerdano if they have any questions.
  • Back-to-School Night

    Ruesch Cantwell Classrooms
    Back-to-school night in the fall offers new and returning parents alike the opportunity to meet their sons' teachers and to experience firsthand the environment and objectives of the classroom. 

    -First period begins at 6:45pm. There is no program before 1st period. Please be in your son’s first period class at the bell.
    -Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:15pm in the Cafeteria and will be available during your son’s “lunch” and/or “free” periods.
    -​A copy of your son’s schedule can be viewed via the Parent Resource Board on Gonzaga’s website. Simply click on the NetCommunity icon. Please take the time to discuss with your son the most efficient route around campus, to and from his different classes.
    -Wear a comfortable pair of shoes. You will do a lot of walking up stairs, across campus, and through hallways. 
    -Please do not park in the alley behind the school or on the sidewalks. You will be ticketed. The GPO lot is not available to us on weekday nights.  Please use the parking garage, street parking, or commercial lots.
    -Your son’s counselor will be available to talk with you in the Collins Rotunda, and/or the adjacent Cantwell 217 conference room.  College counselors will be holding brief sessions in Cantwell’s Cleary Lecture Hall (room 222) for senior parents who have a free period and would like to discuss the college application process.
    -Bells will sound to let you know when to move to the next class.
    -You can access your son’s schedule through your resource board by clicking your son’s name at the top left of the page and then clicking the “schedule” tab.

    Onyx Family Picnic

    The Onyx  club is hosting its  annual Onyx Family Picnic from 12:30pm- 3:00pm on Eye Street for Onyx members and their families.

    We hope families will plan on coming to enjoy food, games, live music, and fun with the Onyx Club and Gonzaga community. There will be catered barbecue, homemade desserts/ treats, various games and activities.

    Alumni Association meetings give Gonzaga alumni the chance to hear up-to-the-minute information about what's going on at Gonzaga, from club activities to sporting events, and all Alumni Association events. We begin with fellowship and dinner at 6:00 pm and at 6:30 pm the meeting is called to order. Meetings typically last an hour and a half depending upon attendance and agenda items to be discussed. The meetings are open to all alumni of Gonzaga.

    This will be the first Gonzaga Mothers Club General Membership meeting of the school year. The Gonzaga Mothers Club is open to mothers and guardians of Gonzaga students, and those friends and benefactors of the school who wish to participate in or contribute to the Mothers Club activities.  

    The GMC usually meets on the second Wednesday of the month in the Lower Commons. All are welcome! The social begins at 6:30 pm, and the meeting begins at 7:00 pm.

    Members of Gonzaga’s retreat team will be holding three Spirit Days this fall when members of the freshman class can meet and recreate with some of their new classmates as well as some very enthusiastic upperclassmen.  There we be basketball, dodge ball and a Mario Kart tournament going on in different locations around campus.  

    Freshman can remain on campus from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm for an hour of fun and receive a warmer welcome still to the Eye Street community.  Please encourage your son to make the most of these occasions by fostering his school spirit and that of his classmates.

    The annual Jesuit Gridiron Classic is being played on Eye Street this year! Come cheer on the Eagles as we take on Georgetown Prep!

    The Onyx Alumni Association of Gonzaga College High School is a division of the Gonzaga Alumni Association which is dedicated to supporting and promoting diversity at Gonzaga College High School and within its community, seeks to broaden and strengthen the connections of Alumni.  Those connection serve to support current, prospective and future minorities who are committed to successfully matriculating and graduating from Gonzaga.

    The Varsity Soccer team is traveling to Milwaukee, WI to compete in the 22nd Jesuit Soccer Classic hosted by Marquette University High School. The Classic started initially as a match between Rockhurst (Kansas City, MO) and Marquette and over the years has expanded to include Gonzaga and Regis Jesuit from Denver, CO. 
     
    The Classic gives all students-athletes, coaches, and families an opportunity to come together, play four matches, participate in Mass, and get to know other Jesuit school communities across the country. They get to know these families and communities very well given that the host school's families host all the players involved! 
     
    Gonzaga will be playing Regis Jesuit on Friday and #4 Marquette on Saturday.

    Geordan devoted his full energy to everything he did—whether it was as captain of Gonzaga’s wrestling team or volunteering for a cause important to him. After graduating from Gonzaga in 2003, Geordan went on to Clemson University. After college, he worked at local real estate developer the JBG Companies while earning a Masters in Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. He also served on the Board of Directors of Access Youth, a local nonprofit.

    After Geordan’s death in 2013, his family, friends, and colleagues established the Geordan Harris Memorial Fund to honor his spirit and passion. Awarded to a rising senior at Gonzaga who exhibits a sense of leadership and motivation to learn, the scholarship provides tuition assistance as well as a paid summer internship.
