Pedro Da Silveira '21 Named Best Delegate at Virtual Model UN Conference

Last weekend, junior Pedro Da Silveira won best delegate at the entirely virtual Cypress Bay Model UN Conference. This is the first time a Gonzaga student has managed to carry the day without being physically present.

At the virtual conference, Pedro used the skills he has developed through Model UN to work with delegates from around the world to negotiate and lead a mock White House Coronavirus Task Force. At the end of the day, he was named “Best Delegate” for his representation of Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“Finding this conference online was a stroke of good luck,” said Pedro. “I was raring to go after our season got cut short and I am so proud to say that all the work paid off.

“This showcases how, even in these turbulent days, our students' ingenuity and enthusiasm for achievement is boundless,” said Mr. Carl Cardozo, who co-moderates Model UN along with Mrs. Peggy Metcalf.

Congratulations, Pedro!
