Library Hosts Career Speaker Series

This December, the library has hosted a number of guest speakers on the topic of careers and professional journeys.

On Thursday, December 6, Rylan Madison ’18 and Aaron Douoguih ’18 returned to Gonzaga to talk about why they chose to take a “Gap Year” after graduation. They told current students about the eye-opening experiences they have had this fall in China and Mongolia.

On Friday, December 7, Dr. Rita Devine from the NIH visited to explain how to apply for a summer internship, including offering tips on how to draft a winning resume and cover letter that will stand out. Last summer, two Gonzaga students, Loic Sangwa ‘19 and Alex Billups ’19, participated in the program—they attended Dr. Devine’s talk and offered their insight as well.

Finally, on Monday, December 10, David Culver '06, a reporter and anchor with NBC4, came back to Eye Street to give current students tips for landing a job in broadcasting. He talked about the importance of finding good mentors and building relationships, and also stressed the value of developing good writing and communication skills—no matter what career you choose.

Thank you to all of the speakers for sharing your wisdom and experiences!
