Gonzaga Faculty Attend Academic Excellence Conference
A group of Gonzaga faculty attended an Academic Excellence conference last week at Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York. The event was organized by the combined USA East Province of the Society of Jesus, and in attendance were representatives of Jesuit schools from Maine to Georgia.
Representing Gonzaga were Headmaster Tom Every, Dean of Faculty Leslie Keiser, Educational Technologist John Kilroy, Science Department Chair John Heetderks, English Department Chair Bill Pierce, and Fine Arts Department Chair Shelly Farace.

Among the many topics covered were faculty observation and evaluation, student and faculty mental health and wellness, department chair formation, and best practices in the area of academic excellence.
“It’s always energizing and inspiring to take a break from the day-to-day life of the school year and hear from other Jesuit educators from around the country,” says Headmaster Mr. Tom Every. “We’re looking forward to bringing back to Gonzaga many of the best practices and ideas we talked about.”
