Apopka Service Trip—Enjoy the Photos!

Ten students traveled to Apopka, Florida April 2 to April 7 to kick off the first of many Gonzaga Immersion Trips for this year.

The trip continued Gonzaga’s many years of working with the Hope Community Center, which serves Central Florida’s immigrant and working poor communities through education, advocacy, and spiritual growth. The group spent the week living alongside migrant families, sharing in meals and conversation, as well as working in the town’s farms. During the week, the group examined the realities immigration, labor practices shaping the experience of immigrants, and considered the joys and anxieties of all those seeking to find a livelihood in the United States. The students wrestled with large questions, but also did research of the heart as they received hospitality from immigrant families and talked about how to bring their experience back to Eye Street.

We hope you enjoy these great photos from the trip!
