Basketball Climbs National Rankings, Beats Prep

Over Christmas Break, Gonzaga Basketball headed north to the famous Gauchos Gym to play in the Jumpman Holiday Classic, competing against some of the nation's top talent. Gonzaga went 3-0, defeating Hudson Catholic 80-51, Roselle Catholic (the preseason #1 team in the country) 76-66, and Reading High School 80-55.

Gonzaga is now ranked #5 via MaxPreps Top 25.

Following the Jumpman Classic, Gonzaga traveled to face Georgetown Prep in a packed house.  Gonzaga led 22-21 at half. A big third quarter push from the Eagles made it a double-digit lead that proved too much for Prep to overcome. Gonzaga defeated Prep 62-49.

"At this point in the season I have seen major growth with this young team," said Head Coach Steve Turner. "There are areas where we still need to grow, but as they continue to play with and for each other there is no telling how good we can be. What has helped us is taking on a great early season schedule to prepare ourselves for the best conference in the country....The WCAC!"

Basketball is 13-0 on the year. Next up, Gonzaga will play at Carroll, Sunday, January 8th,  at 3:00pm for their first taste of WCAC action.
