Soccer Earns #2 Ranking by The Washington Post

On Tuesday, October 11th, Gonzaga Soccer hosted an undefeated Bishop McNamara team to determine which would claim first place in the WCAC standings; the Eagles entered the contest undefeated as well. The highly anticipated match ended in a 1-1 draw with McNamara taking the lead early in the first half, but Gonzaga responding just minutes later. Senior midfielder Kevin Coffey scored Gonzaga's goal.

Gonzaga holds a #2 ranking by the Washington Post with McNamara currently claiming the top spot. The Eagles played well in the second half, but could not capitalize on a number of opportunities to put another ball in net. It was a hard fought match with great atmosphere on Eye Street. "We adjusted," Head Coach Scott Waller told the Post. “We saw they had us in the first 20 minutes, but I think in the second half we kind of took it to them. … We’ll look to build on that and hopefully see these guys in the playoffs." On Thursday, October 13th, the Eagles traveled to Bishop Ireton to get back in the win column with a 5-0 win over the Cardinals.
