Forever Gonzaga Campaign Reaches $60 Million Milestone

Dear Members of the Gonzaga Community,

It is with sincere gratitude and appreciation that I share with you some good news about the Forever Gonzaga Bicentennial Campaign. Due to the remarkable support of the extended Gonzaga community, we have surpassed $60 million in financial commitments towards the campaign – a humbling and significant achievement.

First and foremost, I express my gratitude to all those who have supported the campaign thus far, including alumni, current and former faculty members, current parents, and parents of alumni. In addition, I am grateful to our campaign co-chairs, Monica Thompson (P '19), John Thompson III '84, and Michael P. Tierney '70, as well as our campaign leadership committee, whose names are listed here. The success of the campaign to date is due in large part to the selfless leadership and dedication of these Gonzaga faithful. To all of our benefactors, your generosity affirms Gonzaga’s mission and makes all that we do on Eye Street possible. So, please know of my heartfelt gratitude for your great generosity!

The support we have received has come in a variety of ways, including pledges, planned gifts, gifts of stock, and money. In fact, nearly half of the campaign gifts thus far are in the form of legacy or planned gifts, which the school will realize in the years to come.

As I shared in September, when we publicly launched the Forever Gonzaga Bicentennial Campaign, the primary focus of this campaign is to help continue our accessibility by growing our endowment. The vast majority of funds raised during this campaign – $65 million – will go directly towards Gonzaga’s endowment. As our endowment grows so will our ability to moderate future tuition increases and maintain and grow tuition assistance to deserving students and families. I respectfully assert that maintaining our accessibility – and therefore supporting the economic, geographic, and racial diversity of Gonzaga – will enrich every aspect of student life here on Eye Street for generations to come.

In addition, cash gifts that we have received to the Forever Gonzaga Campaign are making possible several exciting campus enhancements. This year students enjoyed a new locker room and team meeting space on the field level floor of the 800 North Capitol Street building, a new crew room in the basement of Kohlmann Hall, and new and improved live-streaming technology which has allowed for the broadcasting of events such as graduation as well as some Gonzaga sporting events. When our students return this coming fall, they will experience a new athletic training and strength and conditioning center in Dooley Hall, as well as a new technology commons and maker space in Ruesch-Cantwell. These improvements will benefit our students today, and for years to come. Once again, thank you for supporting and making these developments possible.

In addition, the Forever Gonzaga Bicentennial Campaign is committed to nurturing and growing our Ignatian Identity, providing an ongoing source of funding for faculty salaries and formation programs, expanding facilities and course offerings in science and pre-engineering, and more. To learn more about the various initiatives associated with this campaign, I invite you to explore our campaign websitewatch our campaign video, and reach out to a member of our team. We welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you about how your support can have an impact that's meaningful to you and beneficial to the future of Gonzaga.

Reaching this $60 million amount in financial commitments is indeed a significant achievement, and while we are well on our way to meeting our ambitious goal of $75 million by the end of this current calendar year (2022), we still have a significant way to go. It is our sincere hope that you will join us by supporting this campaign, and in so doing, help to position Gonzaga to best meet and serve the educational needs and hopes of current and future Gonzaga students. Below is a short video making this announcement:

Once again, thank you for your support of Gonzaga!  May God continue to bless you and Gonzaga College High School!

Sincerely, with every best wish,

Rev. Joseph E. Lingan, S.J. '75
President
