Faculty News: Mark Howell ’73 Wins Prestigious Teaching Award

Computer Science and Mathematics Teacher Mark Howell ’73 was recently selected as a Presidential Awardee in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) by the White House.

The PAEMST program, administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, recognizes outstanding teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science.

Each awardee receives a citation signed by the President and a $10,000 award from the NSF. Awardees will also be invited to an awards ceremony here in Washington, DC at a later date.

“This is a great honor for Mark, his family, and the Gonzaga school community as a whole,” said Father Planning. “I wish to congratulate and thank Mark for his many years of extraordinary work in the service of Jesuit education.”
