Indoor Track Wins DC State Championship for Third Time in Four Years

On Tuesday, February 12, the Gonzaga Indoor Track team won its third DCSAA Indoor Championship in four years. 

Gavin McElhennon ‘20 won the 1600m with a personal best and meet record of 4:25 and Marcus Stackhouse ‘19 won the 800m with a time of 2:04. Quartet Cullen Capuano ‘20, Seamus O’Connor ‘22, McElhennon, and Gavin Farley ‘19 won the 4x800 relay with a time of 8:27, shattering the record by more than five seconds.

Farley was quoted about the 4x800 win in the Washington Post saying, “I couldn’t tell who was behind me at all. I was just trying to finish my race, and I picked it up in the end. Our goal was to win the race and get as many points for our team.”
