Gonzaga competes in the Mid Atlantic Prep Hockey League (MAPHL), which consists of teams from the WCAC, IAC, and MIAA conferences and delivers the most competitive high school hockey in the Washington area. Since joining the league in 2007, Gonzaga has won the MAPHL AA championship five times—including the 2018-2019 season.
Gonzaga Hockey players have gone on to play at various levels, including the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III, ACHA Division I, USA Hockey’s National Development Team, Junior “A” USHL, and Prep School programs.
Every year, the program hosts the Gonzaga National Capital Hockey Tournament, known as the Purple Puck, which takes place in December at Fort Dupont Ice Arena, our home rink, and draws top teams from around the country. Another annual tradition is the Dominick Pettey Purple White Hockey Game, an inter-squad game and fundraiser played in honor of friend and teammate Dominick Pettey ’15, who died in a car accident in 2014.
