Soccer Wins Jesuit Classic, Beats Latin and SJC

The Soccer Eagles travelled to Kansas City, Missouri this past weekend to play in the annual Jesuit Soccer Classic. On a wet Friday morning, they took on the Raiders of Regis Jesuit, from Aurora, Colorado. The scoring started early with a Daniel Bollman '24 goal off a Colin Prendergast '23 assist. The Eagles dominated for much of the game but would not score again until the last ten minutes when Leo Marques da Costa '23 put the Eagles up for good off of a Daniel Bollman '24 assist. The Eagles defeated Regis Jesuit 2-0.

In game 2 for the Eagles on Saturday morning, they took on the Hilltoppers of Marquette University High from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both sides battled for 80 hard minutes, but the Eagles broke through first with a Colin Prendergast '23 penalty conversion after Daniel Bollman '24 was fouled in the box. To add to the drama, Marquette later was awarded a penalty and missed but moments later found the back of the net to make it 1-1. Prendergast '23 scored again off a header. Thomas Gabay '25 iced the game with a goal of his own off a lovely pass from David Caballero '23.  The Eagles defeated Marquette 3-1.

After the match, Gonzaga alumnus Alex Passett of the Class of 1982 led the team in a singing of the Alma Mater.
