Summer Construction Update

There’s been a lot of activity on Eye Street this summer, as construction continues on several campus improvement projects that are part of the Forever Gonzaga Bicentennial Campaign.

In the space that was once the IT Department on the ground floor of Ruesch Cantwell, the new Technology Commons will feature enlarged, open lab and collaboration spaces for student work in STEM-related areas. There will be dedicated areas and equipment for 3-D printing, coding, computer-animated design and fabrication -- as well as an adjacent classroom to help students learn about and employ this new technology.

Meanwhile, construction crews are also hard at work creating a new, state of the art strength and conditioning center in the space that was once the Old Gym. At the same time, they are also expanding the infamous old locker room and converting it into a significantly enhanced athletic training room.

In addition, updates and renovations are taking place in the sacristy of St. Al's as well as the fifth floor of Forte Hall, home to Gonzaga's offices of Alumni and Advancement as well as Marketing and Communications.

"These campus improvement projects touch on different, vital aspects of the Gonzaga experience -- whether academics, spirituality, or athletics," said Father Lingan. "In addition, the updates to Forte Hall are much needed and will help the school continue to meet the needs of our students and alumni. After so much planning and preparation, it is exciting to see these projects come together."

We hope you enjoy this short video showing progress on these projects to date, as well as several photos of the work underway. To read more about the Forever Gonzaga Bicentennial Campaign, please click here
