Baseball Caps Great Season with DC State Championship!

On Wednesday, May 25th, Baseball defeated Jackson Reed (previously Woodrow Wilson High School) 4-2 to win the DC State Championship. 

Ethan Van Sice '23 was the starting pitcher and went five innings. In the bottom of sixth, the Tigers had runners on the corner with two outs. Jake Gupton '23 threw out the third base runner, and Thomas Gatjanis '22 tagged out the runner at the plate to get out of the inning. Here's a great video clip of the out:

Bryson Moore '23 took the mound to close the game. He went 1,2,3 to earn the save and cap off the season for the Eagles. Here is the final pitch:

Moore, who also hit a two-run homer that gave the Eagles the lead, was named MVP.

To recap the year, Baseball finished 23-12 overall and won the WCAC and DC State Championship. 

Congratulations to the baseball program on a banner year. Go Eagles!
