Alumni Accolades: Ian Harkes '13 Wins Player of the Year

Scottish Premier side Dundee United FC named Ian Harkes '13 Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season. 

Harkes was a varsity captain for Gonzaga during his junior and senior year. In 2011, Harkes was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in D.C.  In 2012, he was named to the WCAC First Team, was named an All-Met by The Washington Post, and was selected twice to the NSCAA First Team All-South High School Region.

In 2012, Ian lead Gonzaga to a WCAC Championship over DeMatha. Check out the highlights here

Ian would go on to play collegiate soccer at Wake Forrest University. On January 6, 2017, Harkes was awarded the Herman Trophy, awarded to the best college soccer player in the nation.

Since then, Ian has played for DC United and Dundee United FC.
