Baseball Beats O'Connell, Advances to WCAC Championship

Baseball defeated Bishop O'Connell in the WCAC semifinals two games to one to advance to the WCAC Championship Series for the first time since 2002! Gonzaga lost game one 4-1, but won game two 11-3 on to set-up the game three.

On Wednesday, May 11th, the Eagles travelled to Bishop O'Connell for the decisive game. Nicholas Morabito '22 got the Eagles started with a solo home run in the top of the first to take a 1-0. Ethan Van Sice '23 would hold it down with 5 hitless innings pitched. The Eagles were up 4-0 in the top of the sixth when Nicholas Morabito '22 (2-2, HR, 4 RBIs, 3 Runs Scored, 2 BB) hit a bases-clearing triple to give Gonzaga a commanding 7-0 lead. Steven Jungers '22 would go 1,2,3 in the bottom of the seventh to close the game out for Gonzaga.

Gonzaga will now face St. John's for the WCAC Championship.

The format is a best-of-three games series that will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 13-15, at the Nationals Youth Academy. The Rain Date will be Monday, May 16.
