Tennis Wins WCAC Championship

On Thursday, May 5th, Tennis competed in the WCAC Tournament Finals at Paul VI in Chantilly, VA. Gonzaga had 4 singles and 2 doubles make the championship round.  

Gonzaga was leading all teams with 21 points coming into the final round, but just 5 points ahead of 2nd place DeMatha. And after the matches had been postponed for two straight days, the Eagles were poised to hoist the coveted trophy for the first time since 2019.
 
Jack Sherner ‘24 (#2), Carson Foley ‘22 (#3), and Daniel Jordanoff ‘24 (#6) all took home singles championships. Patrick Barry ‘22 and Daniel Jordanoff ‘24 took home a doubles (#3) championship. The wins closed out the WCAC Championship by giving the team a total of 33 points, 8 points ahead of the Stags.

To recap the year, Tennis went 14-1 overall, 10-0 in WCAC winning the regular season title, and the tournament title! This marks tennis 2nd straight championship as no tournament play was held in 2020 or 2021. Congratulations to Coach Randy De Guzman, Coach Haley Mooney, and all the Eagles who are part of the program!
