Crew Wins Back the Foley Cup

The entire Gonzaga Crew program travelled to Noxonton Pond in Delaware to compete in the St. Andrew's Invitational and Foley Cup the weekend of April 23-24.

The Foley Cup is traditionally determined by the first Varsity race between Gonzaga and St. Albans. However, this year the Kent School, which was undefeated on the season and is the defending New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Champion, was also on the water. Gonzaga defeated St. Albans by a 12-second margin and dramatically finished in front of the Kent School by less than a second, crossing the line with a time of 4:25.0 to win back the Foley Cup! Throughout the entire St. Andrew's Invitational all Eagle eight-oared crews won all their races. Click here for a comprehensive recap and reflection on the weekend by from Head Crew Coach Andy Bacas.

Rowing Championship season begins in two weeks and all the Eagles seemed poised for great runs deep into the final rounds of all the big regattas ahead.
