Keith Urgo ‘97 becomes Fordham Men’s Head Basketball Coach

Keith Urgo '97 was officially named Fordham's Men's Head Basketball Coach Thursday, April 28th, after Kyle Neptune's departure to Villanova. You can find the full press release here.

Keith Urgo ‘97 lettered in both basketball and lacrosse at Gonzaga. His senior year he helped lead Gonzaga to basketball and lacrosse WCAC titles. After Gonzaga, Urgo went to Fairfield University, where he continued to play both sports.

Coach Urgo returned to Gonzaga in 2004 where he coached freshman and varsity basketball until 2007. Said Coach Turner about Keith's new position: “It was long overdue. Keith has worked really hard on his craft. He has done an unbelievable job at all the places he has been. He is going to be an unbelievable leader, as he has always been. I look back to when he was a player at Gonzaga and he was one of the best leaders on the floor night in and night out”

We asked Assistant Athletic Director Terry Kernan ‘08 what it was like to play under Coach Urgo. “He is so passionate about the game," said Coach Kernan. "He loved us as players and we still have a great relationship to this day. He was someone I looked up to and really inspired me to get into coaching.”

Gonzaga will be cheering on Coach Urgo as he embarks on this new journey!

Hail Gonzaga!
