Five Students Named Winners in 2022 Parkmont Poetry Contest

Held every Spring, the Parkmont Poetry Festival celebrates the creativity of the District of Columbia’s student poets. This year, the contest, which is in its 40th year, received nearly 400 submissions. Judge E. Ethelbert Miller selected 20 winners, including five Gonzaga students.

"What thrills me when our poets win awards outside of Gonzaga is the recognition of the quality of their work by people who do not know them, people who are accomplished poets, outside our school," said English Teacher and Gonzaga Poets and Writers Club Moderator Mr. Joe Ross.

Congratulations to the following winners! They will receive a cash prize, publication in the 2022 Parkmont Poetry Book, and will have the opportunity to read their work at a public reading on April 30.
