Crew Beats BCC to Start Season

On Saturday, March 26, Gonzaga Crew kicked-off its season with a win over Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School at Anacostia Boathouse. Since 2008, Gonzaga and Bethesda-Chevy Chase compete for the "The Blue & Purple Cup"  which is awarded to the winning First Varsity 8.

The weather conditions of their first meet were pretty challenging, a 13-18 mph wind from the SSW (tailwind) and outgoing (opposing) tide made for quite choppy water.  All starts were floating starts and not all distances were the planned 1500 meters.  The 1v8 race and 2v8 race were both over 1600 meters.
