Brian Johnson '16 Signed to Washington Football Team

Congratulations to NFL kicker Brian Johnson, Gonzaga Class of 2016, on being signed to the Washington Football Team's active roster earlier this week.

NBC Washington writes that the search for a new kicker began during halftime of Washington's Monday Night Football victory over the Seahawks, when kicker Joey Slye suffered a hamstring injury. Johnson had made his NFL debut earlier this season for the New Orleans Saints, but had been released from their roster on November 14. To read the full article, click here.

In 2015, as a senior kicker for Gonzaga, Johnson earned 1st Team USA Today All-DC, 1st Team All-WCAC, and 2nd Team All-Met honors while helping the Eagles to their second straight DCSAA AA Championship. Johnson went on to have a stellar career at Virginia Tech before entering the NFL in 2021.

Johnson's first game in burgundy and gold will be this Sunday versus the Las Vegas Raiders. The away game will air at 4:05pm on Fox.

Good luck Brian!
