Caleb Williams '21 Leads Oklahoma Sooners to Comeback Win

On October 9, 2021 Caleb Williams '21, a true freshman quarterback at the University of Oklahoma, showed the nation what all of us on Eye Street knew was possible for many years now. "No. 6 Oklahoma (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) completed the largest comeback in the history of the Red River Showdown, resurging from a 28-7 first quarter deficit against No. 21 Texas (4-2, 2-1) for a 55-48 win thanks in large part to Williams’ heroism," writes the OUdaily. As a sophomore on Eye Street, Caleb led the Eagles to their historic WCAC Championship win over DeMatha 46-43, throwing the unforgettable hail mary touchdown pass to win the game.

So when head coach Randy Trivers was asked about Williams's heroics last Saturday, he said, “Not a shock. That young man is a special talent who rises in special moments.” Here are the complete highlights of his performance:

“There are a lot of competitive guys that are talented that in the moment don't necessarily have that ‘it’ factor, and he’s just got it, man,” Coach T goes on to tell OUdaily. Click here to read the entire article and see more highlights from the game.

Sports Illustrated's website also featured a story about Caleb called "College Football, Meet Caleb Williams" as its "Daily Cover" on Friday, October 15. To read the full article -- which features quotes from several Gonzaga coaches, faculty, and alumni -- click here
