News of Alumni: Mitch Brooks '02

Congratulations to Mitch Brooks ‘02 whose new venture capital firm has been featured recently in Yahoo News, The Washington Business Journal, and Afrotech. Called High Street Equity Partners, the firm invests in and supports up-and-coming black business owners. Their goal is to invest in 10 companies that have an annual revenue of $100,000 within their first year of operation.  

According to Brooks, “We have an affinity in the space for often overlooked, small and medium enterprises. We hope that they see akin in us and that they can connect and resonate with one another in that regard.” In a similar fashion to the popular show “Shark Tank,” the website offers a “pitch,” button that opens doors for entrepreneurs to have their businesses considered for investment funds.
